Since when were adult sites illegal?

The thing is, in many countries adult content a.k.a. porn is illegal!
I am pretty sure it is illegal in my country also. So I didn't want to take any risks.
I guess in hostgator they don't allow porn contents in the websites hosted in their servers! Another reason for not offering the service for adult niche websites!
